During the G20 Leaders’ Summit, Odisha’s iconic Konark Kaal Chakra (Wheel of Time) and sculptures from the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha garnered significant attention as they welcomed world leaders and foreign delegates. Dating back to the 13th century and commissioned by King Narasimhadeva-I, the Konark kaal chakra boasts 24 spokes symbolizing Time Continuity, making it a powerful representation of India’s influence on the global stage.

Alongside cultural treasures, world leaders had the opportunity to savor Bharat finest cuisine at Gala dinner from President of Bharat: Honourable Droupadi Murmu, serenaded by a harmonious blend of Ragamalika, Rajasthani, and Kashmiri folk songs, as well as Rabindra sangeet. The accompaniment of various musical instruments such as Jaltarang, Vichitra Veena, and Dilruba added to the enchanting atmosphere. Devotional songs like Vaishnav Jnato and Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram further elevated the cultural significance of the G20 Meetings.

The evening witnessed distinguished guests savoring a meticulously crafted four-course meal that elevated millets to the forefront of culinary excellence. Commencing with a heartfelt tribute to India’s culinary diversity, the dinner reflected how our nation, with its myriad flavors, finds unity in its love for food. Each of the four courses, dedicated to the autumn season, prominently featured millets, aligning with India’s 2023 promotion of these grains as part of the International Year of Millets.

The menu thoughtfully included an informative section underscoring the significance and nutritional value of millets. The first course, ‘Paatram,’ offered a contemporary twist on chaat, presenting foxtail millet leaf crisps adorned with a yogurt sphere and spiced chutney.

The main course, ‘Vanavarnam,’ delighted palates with a jackfruit galette accompanied by glazed forest mushrooms, crisp little millets, and Kerala red rice infused with the aromatic essence of curry leaves.

For dessert, ‘Madhurima’ brought a smile to taste buds with a cardamom-infused barnyard millet pudding, harmonized by a seasonal fig-peach compote and the delicate crunch of ambemohar rice crisps.

To complement this culinary journey, beverages included the aromatic Kashmiri Kahwa, the comforting filter coffee, and the soothing Darjeeling tea, paying homage to India’s beloved traditional drinks. And, in quintessential Bhartiya tradition, the meal concluded with a delightful chocolate rendition of the cherished paan, ensuring a sweet and memorable ending to this exceptional evening.

Message of Peace and Non-Violence

In light of the prevailing global mistrust caused by conflicts, including the war in Ukraine and various smaller disputes worldwide, Bharat aimed to convey a message of non-violence and peace. As the G20 summit concluded, Bharat, as a nation advocating non-violence and peace, took the opportunity to emphasize these principles. World leaders paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi, an icon of non-violent resistance, underscoring the need for peaceful resolutions in the current global scenario. The summit’s conclusion featured leaders coming together with Prime Minister Modi at the Rajghat memorial site in New Delhi, where they were presented with shawls made of khadi, a handspun fabric closely associated with Gandhi and his non-violent struggle for Bharat independence from British colonial rule. Once again, Bharat advocate that this is no time for war but for diplomacy, urging a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
