In 2009, during my month-long adventure across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, I embarked on an unforgettable journey from Sonmarg to Leh, capturing the rugged beauty, historical significance, and adrenaline of Zojila Pass. What began as a drive through unpaved roads and treacherous terrain quickly turned into a humbling experience as we encountered the Zojila War Memorial, a tribute to the valor of the Indian Army during the 1947-48 conflict. The stories shared by soldiers stationed there brought the strategic importance of this pass to life, juxtaposing its historical resilience. The breathtaking landscapes, challenges of the route, and encounters with those guarding our borders are immortalized in a collection of photographs I’ve clicked.
These images not only showcase the raw beauty of Zojila Pass but also serve as a tribute to the courage and sacrifices of our soldiers, making it a journey I will forever cherish.
