Sarni, home to the majestic thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh, also holds a special place in my heart as the town where I spent my childhood. In 2010, during a Diwali visit, I took the opportunity to reconnect with an old friend, Krishna, and together, we revisited some of our most cherished memories by exploring the stunning Satpura Tawa Dam. The bike ride from Sarni to the dam became more than just a journey—it was a thrilling adventure that rekindled the spirit of our school days. As the engine roared beneath us, the beauty of the Satpura ranges unfolded before our eyes, with every twist of the road offering a breathtaking view that pulled us deeper into nature’s embrace.
The lush greenery and serene landscapes provided a stark contrast to the fast-paced, noisy urban life we had left behind. The rhythmic sound of the wheels against the road seemed to synchronize with the heartbeat of the surrounding wilderness, while the crisp breeze carried with it the whispers of adventure that had been long forgotten. Riding through this rugged terrain, we encountered wildlife and witnessed nature in its purest form, each moment reminding us of the tranquility that Sarni’s natural beauty offered. The journey wasn’t just about reaching the destination but about immersing ourselves in the untouched beauty that lay between Sarni and Tawa.
When we finally arrived at the Tawa Dam, the sight of its 14 gates standing tall against the backdrop of the majestic Satpura peaks was awe-inspiring. The dam’s serene waters reflected the vast sky, and in that moment, the beauty of Sarni came full circle. It was more than just a ride—it was a reminder of how the simplicity and splendor of nature can heal and rejuvenate the soul. That Diwali, amidst the joy of reconnecting with old friends and reliving childhood memories, I rediscovered the unspoken allure of Sarni, which continues to captivate my heart to this day.
