Memories of Farming: The Bullock and The Field – Year 2009

The Bullock and The Farmland
My Brother Monu and me

In 2009, I had the opportunity to spend one of the most cherished times of my life with my Nana and my brother Monu on our family farmland. It was during this period that I first experienced ploughing the land with a bullock, a practice that was still common among farmers who couldn’t afford tractors. The act of working the land with simple tools connected me to the deep-rooted traditions of farming, while teaching me patience, discipline, and the importance of hard work.

Under my brother Monu’s guidance, I learned a few tricks of ploughing that not only made the task easier but also more enjoyable. His expertise and tips helped me improve my technique, and we shared many memorable moments together on the field. The beauty of that time wasn’t just in the physical labor but in the way it brought us closer as siblings and allowed us to connect deeply with our heritage.

Those days on the farm left a lasting impression on me. They are a reminder of the simplicity of life, the joy in hard work, and the importance of family connections. The experiences I gained during that time continue to shape my perspective, offering valuable lessons in perseverance, love for the land, and appreciation for the everyday moments that define our lives.
