Middle-Class Conundrum: Looking Ahead Future Prospects of Modi’s BJP Government

As the grand festival of democracy unfolds across India, citizens are casting their votes with the vision of a New Bharat in mind. The resounding slogan, “Abki bar fir se Modi sarkar,” echoes the anticipation of Modi’s BJP gearing up for another term. As we eagerly await the results on June 4th, my thoughts turn towards what Modi’s government will do in the coming days, especially for the middle class. Over the past decade, Modi’s administration has achieved significant progress mainly towards Rich or Poor, but concerns about the plight of the middle class persist.

Middle Class: Stuck Between Rich and Poor

One major concern is the growing disenchantment within the middle class, which has been squeezed between the Rich and the Poor. Policies often seem tailored either for the wealthy or the poor, leaving the middle class to toil harder without immediate benefits. In coming days, I see a bleak and stagnant future for the middle class neither want to get poor nor he can become rich overnight.

Impact of AI on Jobs

As experience Tech nerd and entrepreneur i can foresight the job sector, where the unskilled market, although unstructured, remains robust and relatively immune to AI disruption in the near future. However, the skilled job market, increasingly digitized, faces a significant threat from AI automation. This could lead to substantial layoffs in corporate sectors, primarily affecting the middle class. Those who stand to gain from this AI revolution are the rich, who have the resources to adapt and thrive. The concept of Universal Basic Income (UBI) is becoming increasingly relevant in the context of AI advancements, a point recently emphasized by AI God Father Geoffrey Hinton in a recent interview with BBC.

Tax Burden

The tax burden on the middle class is another pressing issue. Unlike the poor, who benefit from various welfare schemes, and the rich, who can afford luxuries, the middle class finds itself heavily taxed on salaries, food, transport, and daily necessities. Election promises often translate to tax payer money distributed to the poor, while the middle class is left to shoulder the financial load without comparable relief.

Small Business and Entrepreneurship

Government projects, especially low-cost initiatives, often end up in the hands of relatives of those in power, leading to “patty tendering.” This practice sidelines genuine small businesses, as tenders are traded and subcontracted, creating a murky business environment. The middle class, hesitant to pursue self-employment, is further discouraged by the difficulty of accessing government schemes and benefits, particularly when they rely on private banks due to the nature of their jobs.

Vulnerability to Future Uncertainties

The middle class is more vulnerable to future uncertainties, lacking basic benefits like free rations provided to the poor. Because I can attest that the middle class prefers to earn their livelihood rather than depend on government pitty. They feel a deep sense of responsibility towards building a strong New Bharat, valuing hard work and self-reliance over constitutional entitlements. However, without adequate support and motivation from the government, this crucial demographic may become increasingly disillusioned.

Looking Ahead

As Modi’s new government takes shape soon after 4th June, it is imperative that they address the needs and concerns of the middle class. Failure to do so could result in a significant disconnect by 2029, with the middle class playing a decisive role in altering the political landscape at both national and state levels. The government must keep the middle class motivated and ensure that their contributions towards building a healthy New Bharat are recognized and supported.

In this grand democratic festival, my vote reflects a hope for a future where the middle class is not overlooked but rather empowered to thrive alongside the rest of the nation. Only by addressing these critical issues can we truly realize the vision of a New Bharat that works for everyone.
