My LPG Struggle: Reasons to Support Modi’s BJP

As the season of the greatest Indian festival, the Festival of Elections or Voting, approaches, it’s a time when we, as citizens, come together to democratically elect our lawmakers and contribute towards shaping the destiny of our nation: A New Bharat. Reflecting on my experiences and observations of how India is governed earlier, the challenges we face in education, employment, healthcare, and the behaviour of politicians, I felt compelled to share my views through a series of blogs, My Reason to support Modi’s BJP. In this first instalment, I share the struggle I faced to procure an LPG gas cylinder, a basic necessity for many households across India.

Struggle with LPG Procurement

Growing up in the small town of Sarni, Madhya Pradesh, obtaining an LPG cylinder was no less than a Herculean task. When the gas ran out, our only alternatives were coal, wood, or an electric heater for cooking. The nearest gas agency became a familiar haunt as we awaited the arrival of the LPG carriage, often resorting to bribery and extra payments to secure a subsidized cylinder, which could take weeks. The concept of having a DBC connection for two cylinders seemed like a distant dream.

Fast forward to my job days in Gurgaon (NCR), and the struggle persisted. While obtaining a DBC connection was relatively easier, the ordeal of waiting for the LPG refill remained unchanged. The cycle of visiting the gas agency, tracking the carriage’s arrival, and enduring long queues persisted, capturing the frustration of countless common Indians like me.

Previous Government Failure

The issue of LPG scarcity was succinctly articulated by Rahul Gandhi’s comment to Manmohan Singh about the hardships faced by common Indians with a limit of six subsidized cylinders per year. The lack of vision and action from the previous government exacerbated the problem, with one minister’s statement emotionless comment, those who paid Rs. 900/- for an LPG cylinder are not poor.

Modi’s Revolutionary Initiatives

However, the winds of change blew with the advent of the Modi government. Modi’s call to voluntarily give up LPG subsidy resonated with me, reflecting a shared commitment towards the nation’s progress. The introduction of the Ujjwala Yojna marked a turning point, as millions of households received LPG connections, transforming the lives of countless housewives.

The visionary leadership of Narendra Modi and the BJP brought about a revolution in the LPG sector, ensuring abundant supply and ease of access for all. The transformative impact of initiatives like the Ujjwala Yojna reaffirmed my faith in the leadership of Modi and his vision for a new Bharat.

There’s no denying that today we experience a seamless booking process and doorstep delivery of LPG without any waiting period. This change is evident and felt by many ordinary Indians, including myself. As the season of elections approaches, my vote stands firmly with the BJP, led by Narendra Modi, a beacon of hope for a brighter future for New Developed Bharat.

Stay tuned for more insights and reflections on why I choose to vote for the BJP, and some reasonable thoughts behind why we shouldn’t.
