In 2009, I had the privilege of spending some of the most exciting days of my office life with the India Hotel Review (IHR) team at Vriti Infocom, albeit for a brief period. Located on the first floor of the Vriti Infocom office in Sector 63, Noida, the IHR team was at the forefront of a novel concept in the hospitality industry—providing comprehensive hotel reviews. Back then, the idea of relying on detailed online reviews for hotels was still in its infancy, unlike today, when travelers depend heavily on such insights before booking hotels or travel packages. Being part of a team that was pioneering this change was a thrilling experience, and it gave me a front-row seat to the evolving travel landscape in India.
The IHR team had a dynamic approach, skillfully navigating the diverse and rich hospitality sector of India. From grand luxurious retreats to charming boutique accommodations tucked away in serene corners, we delved deep into understanding what made a guest’s stay exceptional. Each review wasn’t just about star ratings; it was about capturing the essence of the experience—how the ambience, service, and amenities combined to create a memorable stay for travelers. The work we did had a direct impact on helping people discover these hidden gems, ensuring that every trip they planned offered a unique and unforgettable experience.
Looking back, my time with the IHR team was not just about contributing to a revolutionary idea but also about gaining a deeper appreciation for India’s hospitality landscape. The dedication of the team to providing accurate, insightful, and comprehensive reviews was inspiring. It was satisfying to know that our work would guide travelers in making informed decisions, laying the foundation for the modern-day reliance on reviews that we see today. My brief stint with IHR remains a cherished memory of innovation, collaboration, and being part of something that was ahead of its time.
