SSB Interview: Explore Your True Self

As I reflect on my enduring journey with the Services Selection Board (SSB), the essence of aspiring for the Indian Army emerges as a profound memories and enlightening experience. Having undergone the rigorous SSB process over three times, each attempt has been a stepping stone, unveiling not just the life of an Army officer but also the true spirit of being Indian and Your True Self.

SSB – A Glimpse into Army Life

The 4-5 days spent at the SSB are more than just a recruitment process; they are a window into the life of an Army officer. These days, though intense and challenging, stand as some of my most memorable. The SSB becomes a crucible where individuals are tested not just for physical fitness but, more importantly, for mental toughness and unwavering commitment to the task at hand.

The Intersection of Two Worlds

In 2010, I encountered the SSB for the third time during my six-month exploratory bike journey, seeking to discover my true self—a journey fueled by the spirit of exploration on my Bajaj Avenger. This came after accumulating four years of experience in the tech industry, working with Indian tech startups Desiya, TravelGuru, and Vriti Infocom. The objective was to grasp the intersection of corporate life with the final push towards aspiring to enter the demanding and disciplined world of an Army officer. However, as the days unfolded, I realised that my true potential might lie in contributing to a new India in a different uniform—contributing to the nation’s economic strength.

Unearthing Potential Beyond Uniforms

Following six months of self-discovery on a motorcycle journey, I returned to the bustling scene of the National Capital Region (NCR) and unearthed my capabilities in the tech industry. The path guided me briefly to Nagarro and ultimately to PeopleStrong Technologies, witnessing its growth into a global presence. The SSB stands as a transformative experience, highlighting that one’s capacity to contribute to the nation goes beyond the confines of the uniform and extends into diverse fields.

Inspiring the Young Aspirants

I want to share one story from the SSB, about A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, to inspire young guns. Honourable A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, a revered figure and former President, also underwent the SSB interview. His journey transitioned from an aspiring Army officer to becoming the Missile Man of India and eventually ascending to the position of President, is a deeply motivational narrative. These stories underscore the transformative power inherent in the SSB process. The message is clear: embark on the SSB journey, give it your best, and unveil facets of yourself that may lead to becoming not just an officer but an icon shaping the destiny of the new Bharat. The journey might open doors to becoming a president or an inspiration for the nation’s greatness.

My Expert Advice: Consider SSB as a call for exploration. To the young aspirants, I strongly urge you to find yourselves through this transformative interview process. The SSB is more than an interview; it’s a transformative journey. Explore the depths of your character, embrace challenges, and discover your true potential. Whether in uniform or not, your journey can be a beacon of inspiration for the new India—A Bharat that is not just economically strong but also culturally vibrant, where individuals contribute to the nation’s greatness in diverse ways.
