During my 2013 Maha Kumbh bike ride, I had taken one of the exciting journey from Delhi to Allahabad, Panna, Khajuraho, and finally reached Maihar to meet my college friend Amit Pateriya. After covering such a long distance, my trusty Avenger bike gave up just as I reached my friend Amit’s home in Maihar. The bike, being heavier than most motorcycles, presented a unique challenge when it broke down. Amit, his office colleges and I discussed several options, but ultimately, we decided that towing the bike was the best solution. This marked one of the most memorable experiences of my trip, as my bike was towed behind a car for nearly 10 kilometers.
The tow itself was a thrilling experience. Driving through the narrow roads of Maihar while my bike was securely fastened to a car felt surreal. Although it was nerve-wracking at times, I got sudden jerk in one of the toll plaza crossing where i got small wounds and help form plaza team. The whole towing process brought with it a sense of adventure that made this part of the journey even more special. Given the fact that there was no nearby Bajaj showroom, I had to get the bike repaired at a local garage. The mechanics used some quick fixes, or “jugaad,” to get the bike up and running again.
After the repair, my bike was fully functional, and I was able to continue my ride back to Gurgaon without any issues. This experience not only taught me the importance of resourcefulness on the road but also strengthened my bond with my Avenger bike. Despite the challenges, it was a journey full of excitement, adventure, and a sense of accomplishment as I completed my Maha Kumbh pilgrimage ride.
